A tattoo artist who admitted assaulting a security guard and resisting gardaí after an incident at a Dublin bar has had her case adjourned for a restorative justice report.
Samara Baschiera, 36, of Liffey Hall, Liffey Valley Park, Lucan, pleaded guilty at Dublin District Court to assault, resisting gardaí, criminal damage, threatening, abusive or insulting behaviour, and public intoxication.
The court heard that on December 24 last year, Baschiera was being removed from The George on South Great George's Street when she lunged at a member of the security staff and bit him on the finger.
No medical treatment was required.
The court heard that she continued to behave aggressively and security staff then flagged down gardaí.
Baschiera shouted at the officers, gritted her teeth and resisted arrest.
During the struggle, one of the gardaí, who was in plain clothes, had his jacket ripped under the arm. The jacket was valued at €250.
The court heard that Baschiera had previous traffic convictions.
Defence solicitor Holly Laher said her client had slipped and fallen that night and that when security attempted to remove her, the situation became very physical.
Counsel said emotions had been heightened and told the court that Baschiera suffers from PTSD, had tried to reason with security, but then reacted.
The court also heard that she runs her own tattoo business and otherwise leads a pro-social life.
Ms Laher said Baschiera was very apologetic for what had occurred and asked the court to be as lenient as possible.
Judge Treasa Kelly said she was directing the accused to undertake a restorative justice programme, which she believed could be of benefit to her.
The judge said the process was voluntary and warned that if it did not suit the accused, the court would consider a more serious penalty.
Baschiera was remanded on continuing bail to appear in court again on May 6.
