A young woman who lunged at a man with a pair of scissors in a shopping centre has been sentenced to two weeks in prison.
Saoirse Domecan, 26, of Finnstown Castle in Lucan, admitted possession of a pair of scissors at the Pavilions Shopping Centre in Swords on March 9, 2026.
Judge Stephanie Coggans imposed the sentence at Swords District Court.
Sergeant Terri Ferguson told the court that CCTV footage showed Domecan lunge towards an unknown male while holding a pair of scissors in her right hand.
The court heard that the man was on his mobile phone at the time of the incident.
Sergeant Ferguson said there was no known connection between the two and that Domecan appeared to have taken a dislike to the man for no apparent reason.
It was also noted that Domecan had no previous convictions.
Defence solicitor Fiona D'Arcy told the court that her client had been dealing with mental health difficulties.
Counsel said Domecan had been in custody since the incident, which had occurred two weeks earlier.
